Odde and Ends From Various Sources Gathered Together During the Day. Postmaster Brown plans extensive stock raising at his Carroll county farm. This afternoon at 3 o clock at the English Lutheran parsonage Mr Lemuel F Roberts and Miss Mary A Bennett of Flintstone were married by Rev J W Finkbiaer.
A full board met to hear applications for special road appropriations and to audit accounts amid routine business.
Aaron Burgess and Miss Barbara E. Nelson both of Grant county West Virginia were married yesterday morning at the Tremont House by Rev. J. E. Moffatt. James C. Lafferty and Miss Nettie Tipton both of West End Pennsylvania were married at the Tremont House this morning by Rev. J. E. Moffatt.
Mrs. W. J. Gibson widow of Wool man J. Gibson of Centreville and mother of Congressman Charles H. Gibson of the First Maryland district died suddenly yesterday afternoon at Capt. John R. Emory’s home 2105 North Calvert street Baltimore. She was seventy and had long suffered heart disease. Mrs. Gibson was a DeCoursey from Philadelphia with many relatives there.
A meeting of Governor Jackson's staff was held at City Hill Baltimore yesterday afternoon. Attendees included Gen McSherry, Surgeon General Wm Lee, Cols John C Legg Frank A Benson Louis Strasburger L B Purnell H H Garrigues H C Tieck C O Cockey P L Downs and Charles H Evans. The staff elected officers: president Surgeon General Lee vice president Gen Shriver treasurer Col Tieck secretary Charles H Evans. The staff will visit Governor Jackson at Salisbury soon.
The 3rd council session confirmed a slate including James Reid as street supervisor and Patrick U O Neal as market master. Other posts named: City Attorney Robert McMichael City Surveyor T L Patterson Chief Engineer W S Jordan Police Chief Wm Hildebrandt and a list of policemen. An appeals and transfers committee was created with June 12 as start date for ten days of sessions chaired by Humbird McNamara Shriver Boost Everyman. A county-visit to seek usual appropriation was arranged by the mayor, president, and a committee.
Washington reports General Sheridan under severe attack yesterday afternoon. He is described as weak exhausted and in a comatose state with only feeble rallies after galvanic treatment. By 12:15 a.m. no material change appears and he sleeps much of the evening as the fight to recover continues.

In St Louis on June 5 the Thurman surge strengthens with Georgia backing and Cleveland groups marching in. Gorman named resolutions chairman and tariff talks dominate day. Delegates, crowds, and a ceremonial opening follow with Barnum presiding and Gorman endorsing tariff restraint.
John Humbird died suddenly at 5 o clock at his brother Jacob Humbird’s summer residence near the five mile house on the National Pike. He had traveled with his wife to visit family and grew ill after heart trouble and dyspepsia. death occurred before a doctor arrived. He was a longtime Cumberland figure, first a wheelwright and railroad builder, later mayor in 1860 1866 1868 and 1875, and a founder of Trinity M E Church South. He left a large family and was active in railroads, banking, and local industry. The funeral is to be announced.
