George Walten of Westminster Maryland tested a patent swimming apparatus in Atlantic City sailing two miles to sea and back with a nine man lifeboat weighing over 1500 pounds. He wore canvas upper shoes with hinged flanges that propelled him head first through the water. The stunt lasted under an hour as waves swept over him and his boat.

In Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Duffay heard arguments from counsel for both sides in Gemmell et al v. Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Death of Two Oakland Residents Reported
A dispatch from Tres announces the death in Oakland of two old residents. Mr. Lewis Bush died Sunday after a brief illness and his lifelong friend Mr. Nicholas Roth was chosen as a pallbearer. Roth died Saturday from injuries after falling from a hay mow Friday night. Garrett county mourns the loss of two useful citizens.
