Renner lovegrass touted for Texas farms
DeWitt County guidance notes Renner lovegrass from the Texas Research Foundation as a fall planting option. It is a palatable blue-green bunch grass suitable for livestock grazing and winter forage, with seed available via Texas Research Foundation. Powdery mildew threatens common shrubs. Benomyl and other fungicides help, with careful label use. Farm numbers show 2,924,000 farms nationwide last year, down 26 percent since 1960, while total farm acreage fell 5 percent to about 1.121 billion acres.
