Nature flight gives Californians a view of ecology
More than 100 adults and children rode a 707 dubbed the Ecology Special to see how humans shape the landscape and how nature interacts with it. Maryann Danielson of the San Mateo County Junior Museum led the trip with help from TWA pilot Wayne Richardson. The flight traced routes from Bi Sur to Salinas, over the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra foothills, returning via farms north of Sacramento. Ecologists Howard Cogswellean and Tomas Pagenhart provided commentary on human impact versus natural processes and noted little disturbance at the Sutter Buttes.
