Lane Home Fire Destroys Residence and Contents
Fire swept through the Joseph H. Lane home on the Yorktown Highway yesterday afternoon destroying the residence and all belongings. Mrs Lane discovered the blaze in the kitchen ceiling after 5 p.m and alerted the alarm. Their two sons Mark and Richard aged 9 and 5 were rescued by a neighbor Ernie Meyer but the fire overwhelmed the house. The Lanes had just returned from Las Palmas Spain where the husband works for Zapata Offshore Oil Drilling Company and is to return to the U S in September. The Striedels will host the family while they search for a new home. Contents were uninsured though the building was. The cause appears to be a ceiling fire that spread into the kitchen.
