Back Pay Increases Approved by Board
The Pay Board ruled retroactive raises due to last year’s wage-price freeze may be paid if within 7 percent. Congress and Nixon signed a law to require payment, with most retroactive increases likely approved. The board also cut aerospace contracts for 100000 workers, trimming first year raises from 12.2 to 8.3 percent and delaying 17 cents to year two. Unions may sue to overturn the decision.
