Smith Opponents Move to Reject Debusk as Board Head
Opponents in the Texas Senate say they have enough votes to block Manuel C. Debusk of Dallas from heading the state college coordinating board. At least 14 senators will vote against confirmation, with 11 needed to deny the appointment. Debusk’s stance on tuition increases and aid to Baylor medical school drew sharp criticism from Sen. A. R. Schwartz and others.
