Cuero sports mix lights up holiday weekend
Friday at Cuero golf course and nearby tennis and touch football events drew crowds and former Gobbler athletes. Henry Whittington and Charles Mitchell led a fast touch football game as Arthur’s team showed speed. Fran Tarkenton’s father Dallas suffered a heart attack during a Vikings game, and Texas Longhorns rallied from a 21 7 deficit to beat Colorado 31 21 while Texas A&M dropped to consecutive losses.

Cuero Booster Club seeks funds to honor 1975 performers
Garry Thomas announced the Gobbler Booster Club is raising money to honor Cuero band members pep squad trotter drill team and football players for the 1975 season. Donations are being accepted at Buchel Bank & Trust Co and Framers State Bank to cover the cost of the tribute.

The Johnson brothers Tanny and Lucien earned starting roles on the UTEP Miners football squad in 1976. Tanny moved from wingback to fullback after starring for Cuero Gobbler teams.
