COLLEGE STATION The Texas Egg Law becomes effective August 22 and requires any person to obtain a license from the Commissioner of Agriculture before buying or selling eggs within the state for resale.
The act lists exceptions and entities selling eggs to consumers in the state. It requires each licensee to pay a license fee to fund enforcement. The annual dealer wholesaler and processor fee is based on the average weekly volume for the month with the highest egg handling in the prior year ending May 31. Proceeds allocated accordingly.
