A Cattle Country Night Encounter on the Plains
The four travelers stay at a ranch on the South Platte near Julesburg. A west ranchman, Tanner, warns of Cheyenne threats while recounting a prior trap where Ed Gowan and he were captured by Indians. They defend themselves, free from danger, and escape with stories of a hostile raid and a jack within the corral.
