Va.r Jan. 4.—James Kirkendall, a prominent farmer, residing near Burning Springs, Wirt County, was fatally wounded to-day, being shot by a young mar named Harry Leedsome, who had been hunting on his farm and whom ho had ordered to leave the place. The wounded man wao brought to St. Joseph’s Hospital in this city, and la expected to die at any moment.Leedaome was arrested soon after the shooting, acid Is in the Wirt County jail at Elizabeth. The community where the trouble occurred ia greatly aroused, and there has been talk of a lynching.
