The American world flyers depart from Fort Crook Nebraska and head toward St. Joseph Missouri and Muskogee Oklahoma. Lieut. Smith pilots the Chicago squadron as weather remains a factor and two army planes scout the route.
Lieut R C Moffatt in an H- fast Curtis pursuit plane left Fort Crook at 10 11 am for St Joseph Missouri for weather checks ahead of the world flight. Fliers hop off from Omaha at 10 41 am led by Chicago with Boston and New Orleans following as the route runs along Missouri Kansas Texas tracks.
Geneva observers describe efforts to seal gaps in the covenant so no party can use domestic jurisdiction as a pretext for war. Raul Fernandez of Brazil M Politis of Greece and M Loucheur of France are tasked with a protocol to ensure peace by removing holes in Article 15 paragraph eight.
Paris reports the Georgian legation says Georgian exiled Na zari was executed in Kutais by Soviet troops. Armored trains tanks and planes arrive from Russia while Bolsheviks control the Batum to Baku rail line. Georgian regiments join the insurrection as guerrilla warfare grows in the mountains.

The Rev. Les We Anderson of St. Joseph Michigan was found unconscious on a downtown Chicago street. Police suspect he was struck by a car. His notes in a nearby car included a message beginning with One who is about to die salutes you. Anderson left St. Joseph after a quarrel with his wife and could not explain how he ended in Chicago. The county physician said he will recover. Police reported church troubles may lead to a trustees hearing over his conduct with two St. Joseph women.
Dublin reports strong pleas against emigration to America as the Independent notes Ireland’s continued drain of youth despite British evacuation. The American consul logged 8 000 visa applications in two months and the Free State quota nears exhaustion. Judge Cohalan urges Irish youth to build careers at home amid bleak prospects for unskilled labor and skilled British artisans returning home.
Ray Taylor announces completion of plans to build the Ray Taylor Red Crown and Polarine station at Pine and Union streets on the south side with construction to start immediately. Harding Highway association officials will depart Burlington on September 22 in autos to inspect the Iowa route with stops in each county and Creston set for a visit.
Cincinnati defeated the Giants 5 to 3 in the first game of a Polo Grounds doubleheader as a seven inning rally, highlighted by Roush’s bases loaded triple, decided the outcome while Luque held the Giants to two hits after the first. Dodgers beat St Louis 7 to 5 in 12 innings to stay in the pennant race.
New York vs Cincinnati game sees Eppa Rixey on the mound for the Reds after a 5 3 loss. The Prince of Wales attends from a box behind first base as Cincinnati seizes a lead with triples from Duncan and Roush following a two run Giants start. Ralph Jones and Lawrence Thompson both of Creston were fined 300 and 100 dollars respectively after pleading guilty in federal court to illegal possession of liquor. Several others also pled guilty to various charges. Homer Welsh of Des Moines fined 2000 dollars plus costs, while James Donahue Harry A. Fields and Charles Smith of Des Moines were each jailed three years at Fort Leavenworth for Harrison drug act violations. Elmer Kinser of Mt. Ayr was fined 50 dollars. Three indictments returned by the grand jury remain unpublicized. Closing arguments in the Jay D. Foster versus John Bullock damage suit were to end this afternoon, followed by the Katherine Eberle versus International Life Insurance hearing. The Burlington railroad bid for a permanent injunction against Creston’s Elm street subway ordinance will be heard Friday. St. Paul, Sept. 18. Jock Malone decisively outpointed Johnny Wilson in a 10-round bout per newspapers.
New York brokers Day and Heaton, one of the oldest NYSE members since 1871, were suspended today for failure to meet obligations. The suspension marks a major action against a long standing member.
Application for official recognition of a world record discus throw by Tom Lieb of the Illinois Athletic Club has been filed with the amateur athletic union. Lieb threw 156 feet 2 12 inches to surpass the previous mark of 156 feet 1 3/8 inches set in 1912 by James Duncan at Celtic Park Long Island.
Washington faces Cleveland in Game today with Uhle and Walters pitching for Cleveland. Cleveland starts strong with two runs in the first on Jamieson and Summa sequence, adds a third in the second via Ellerbee, Uhle, and Jamieson. Indians push ahead with a third inning run on J Sewell Walters and Burns fly, as Russell relieves Marberry for Washington.

Harlan Bradford, 17, Wisecon sin, appeared before Judge H. H. Carter to plead guilty to a county attorney's information charging larceny of an automobile. He was fined 200 and costs instead of penitentiary time due to age and conduct. Judge Carter lectured him on honesty and urged him to work and support his sacrifices parents paid. Bradford stole the car near here weeks ago and abandoned it near Parnell, Missouri after the gas line gave out. he planned to head to Wisconsin but turned south. Three new district court cases were filed: Harry W. Marks seeks 1555.25 against Jacob B. Gripp. Tretehler Brothers Lumber seeks 387.93 against Truman 8 and Myrtle Haintline. C. V. Shaw sues Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Umbaugh for 150 after a Sept. 12 accident in Afton damaged the plaintiff's auto.
Investigation into the newborn boy found strangled in a thicket near West Jefferson Street continues. Coroner James McKee, Fred Collings, and Police Chief Art Louden coordinate efforts as an inquest date remains undecided.
Police investigated a Wednesday night break in at the Danielson grocery at 200 South Elm Street. Entry was gained by removing a back window shutter and breaking glass. The culprits ate candy, cookies, melons, sardines and left 75 pennies in the register. Two sacks of confectionery were abandoned.
