Two Killed as Train Hits Granger Car
Hugo Erickson of Granger and his daughter Shirley aged six died from injuries after their automobile was struck by a freight train at a crossing near Granger. Erickson died at a Des Moines hospital after suffering internal injuries, a broken arm, and a fractured clavicle. Mrs. Erickson witnessed the crash as the couple's car was hurled about 40 feet.

Body of Woman Found on Hotel Roof in Chicago
The body of 24 year old Miss Ethel Jo Brown of Royal Nebraska was found on the ninth floor roof of the Atlantic hotel in South Clark street. A fourteenth floor fire escape grip and a Pullman receipt in her purse show she arrived from Sioux City August 18 and had returned from vacation August 19. She had been missing from the Illinois training school for nurses and appears to have fallen or jumped from the fire escape. The roof sagged under the impact and she had been dead about five to six hours. The grip was traced to W. Williams who checked out after a several day stay.
