Keokuk reports fire at the Hinde Dauch Paper plant area in Fort Madison destroyed sixteen straw stacks. Loss estimated at 160000 with about a quarter insured. Burlington and Keokuk fire departments assisted Fort Madison as crews drenched stacks to smoulder for weeks.

Funeral services for Frederick O'Donnell former district judge who died from injuries after being struck by an automobile will be held in Dubuque. O'Donnell, over 80, practiced law since 1870 and served in several general assemblies before his 1902 election as district judge.
