Clarence W. Rachel a former postmaster at Hamtin Ia pleaded guilty to embezzling funds from the office. Federal Judge Scott sentenced him to four months in Audubon county Jail and gave until Oct 15 to settle personal affairs before starting term. A $1900 shortage noted in 1924 led to his arrest after his mercy plea and later $277 shortage was found.
