Des Moines reports show George F. Holler nicknamed Romeo was seized by several students after he shouted at girls. He was taken from his room to a rural area and coated with molasses pine and feathers. Holler filed charges against two students under Iowa's new anti mask law.

Rockland Me May 28 The scout cruiser Detroit posted a speed of a fraction over 35 knots for one mile during builder's acceptance trials. It surpassed the Richmond's 34.48 knots with an average high speed of 34.6 to 34.7 knots. The run produced 100000 horsepower, about 10000 above expectations, before fuel economy tests at 20 knots.
The Richmond, a 7000-ton light cruiser built at Cramp shipyards Philadelphia, shattered navy speed records with 84.48 knots trials off Maine. As the first of 10 scout cruisers, it may cross the Atlantic in four days, rivaling Mauretania’s 1910 record, with 550-foot length, twelve 6 inch guns, ten torpedo tubes, two seaplanes and 200 foot mast.
Des Moines May 28 Senator A B Cummins Iowa voiced unqualified approval of a world court under Harding provisions in an address to the Canopus Club. He advocated U S and other powers joining a compulsory court for justiciable matters while noting Senate policy restricts compulsory features. He described the court as confined to strictly judicial duties.
Cedar Rapids May 28 A cock fight before about 200 to 300 spectators, with nearly 100 birds matched and gambling alleged, was raided by County Attorney Barngrover. He charged in, stopping the event as a wild scramble broke out. Fifteen cocks were seized and taken to the police station for owners.
