Waco Quiet After Wild Excitement
In Waco Texas on May 27 a day of violence followed the killing and burning of Jesse Thomas a 23 year old Black man. W. Harrell Bolton 25 and Mrs Margaret Hayes 26 were attacked by a Black assailant. A burned body was dragged through the streets. Three Black men remain jailed though officials doubt charges will be filed. Drew Golden Wedding Celebrated by Creston Friends
Mr and Mrs G W Drew of 609 Wyoming Avenue observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary with about fifty relatives and friends. Frozen bodies found after blizzard near Rock River camp
The frozen bodies of Jack Wescott of Urbana Iowa and Marion D Young of Pasadena California, ex service men, were found on a wind swept ridge near their camp. Wescott's raincoat lay over Young as evidence of his failed attempt to save his companion. The storm struck on May 10 and they perished in the elements.
