Extension school staff named for summer program
The extension school at the senior high school will open next week led by N H Ringstrom of Davenport as director. A fifteen member faculty, including Genevieve Anderson and Jessie Lawson, will teach courses identical to those at the State Teachers College with credit toward a degree. Enrollment is expected to exceed 250 as registrations begin June 1 and classes start June 2.

Mason City Suffered Fourth Major Fire In Five Months
Mason City Iowa saw its fourth major blaze in five months when the Alexandria billiard parlor on three floors burned early today in the business district. The estimated loss is up to $49,000 and the fire started in the basement, spreading within ten minutes to all parts of the building.

Explosion Injures Eight At Hanford Garage and Repair
Eight people were hurt in a May 24 explosion and fire at the Hanford Produce company garage and repair shop at 101 Court Street in Sioux City Iowa. Authorities say gasoline vapor confined in a small basement room with a 50 gallon tank refilled Monday caused the blast. Seriously injured include Elmer Lawson 27 in critical condition Robert L Hirsch badly burned and cut John Reed severely burned.
