Waterloo May 18 Elsworth Kern whose death by shooting on Navy 23 1924 resulted in second degree murder charge against Harry Bell was the aggressor in the fatal quarrel defendant said on the stand today and it was Kerns hand which discharged the shotgun as the men wrestled for its possession after Kern had taken it from Bells house Bell testified that Kern intoxicated from drinking raisin wine refused to part with the gun until he had taken his hunting license from a hiding place in the butt of the weapon.

Woman Dies in Fire Trapping Horse at New Market Barn
Mrs Ruby Ingram, about 20, wife of a former resident, died when she tried to lead a favorite horse from a burning barn six miles west of New Market in Page county. She left a husband and one-year-old son. A son of Sam Tawford of New York is named as a survivor. The barn was destroyed by the flames.
