Misa Catherine Igoe, Creston high school student, won first place in the amateur shorthand class at the state contest for high school commercial students in Des Moines. She was the only contestant to write a perfect letter. Her Creston team placed third in their class with Minnie Schultz and Lillie Welcher. New meet records fell in 10 of 17 events at the fifth annual Blue Grass track meet under Creston high school on Irving field. Fred Bittner Hurt in Greenfield Car Crash
Fred Bittner of Greenfield suffered a cut arm in a collision with Fred Stelling near the James Wallace farm six miles northwest of Creston on primary road No. 25. He was taken to Greater Community hospital and expected to return home later today. Sheriff Frank Collings reported both cars wrecked. Stelling’s vehicle was new.

Mrs Hert Seifka, wife of a local farmer, was killed when the car carrying her husband and five children ran off an embankment near Hope Ville as they returned from Osceola. The husband and one daughter were seriously injured. two other daughters suffered minor injuries. Funeral services were held Sunday as the Seifkas recovered at home.

The Southwe stern Iowa Golf association held a Creston meeting at Crestmoor club to outline the June 14 15 16 17 tournament. Lailey Mores of Elliston, released from prison after hog theft, is held in Ringgold county jail Mt Ayr on preliminary information charging arson in the destruction of three barns near his home. Barns on C. H. Case and Floyd Creverling farms burned about 10 pm. losses include horses, cattle, hay, corn. Mores was arrested between midnight and 1 am at his home. he is silent. He previously served part of a five year term for stealing hogs from the Cause farm near Elliston.

Railroad Ships Sand For Flood
Two carloads of sand were dispatched from Creeton on Saturday night to Folsom near Pacific Junction as Missouri River flood waters threatened tracks. Kau Claire Wisconsin May 16. Juntis Anderson twenty four of Ta was killed instantly. William Fisher of Saint Paul a professional wrestler died within an hour from injuries.
