Six youths drowned near Campbell Island after leaping from a trestle to escape a streetcar. Reports from Abilene and Colorado City describe many dead and injured from a Sunday tornado and flooding across the Texas Panhandle region.
Topeka May 14 The Kansas supreme court sustained an injunction against the Industrial Workers of the World and all members and officials in Butler county. The attorney general's department says possession of an I W W membership card can be grounds for contempt of the injunction in any county. State Attorney General C B Griffith says the organization aims to overturn the government and industrial system by its acts.
From Dusseldorf dated May 14 the French offices report that floating mines used by Germany in past conflicts are being laid in the Rhine. The aim is to obstruct coal shipments from the Ruhr region as authorities monitor the waterway for navigational hazards and security risks.
