The Ninth Field Artillery battalion from Ft. Des Moines arrived around noon with word the main unit would come later. The Iowa majority unit camped in McKinley Park and will stay in Creston over Sunday, inviting local residents to visit.
Creston Fishermen depart Monday for Spirit Lake for a major season event. Rivalry runs high as entrants vie to land the longest catch and win the championship belt previously held by UK N Dougherty. The rest room doors arrived and were placed in position today. The new facilities at the City Engine House will be occupied and opened on Wednesday next week. The location is described as a splendid choice for this public amenity.

F W Gray of the British Empire Steel Corp notes current Sydney mines reach two and a quarter miles offshore and 70 percent of Nova Scotia coal comes from undersea zones. Inundation and seam failure pose hazards though.
Washington reports that the Veterans Bureau will employ colored doctors in minor medical positions at the Tuskegee Alabama hospital while the chief medical officer will remain a white man for now. The policy aims to give colored patients equal treatment across bureau facilities amid protests from whites and internal Negro factions. Col. R. H. Stanley, a white officer, is currently chief medical officer.
Gustav Fessel, a German native, is due to return from Germany where he visited his mother as of August 1914, but a check for over 11000 dollars remains at Tow National Bank from eight years of farm income held by the alien property custodian. A 200 acre farm east of Sioux City awaits his reoccupation upon arrival. The custodian has been collecting income and plans to return the farm upon Mr. Fessel’s arrival in America.
Postmaster General Harry S. Now in an address last night admitted a division in the ranks of the republican party yet said the estate of their democratic adversaries is no better. He asserted that both parties are suffering from lack of cohesion.
