The event part of Music Week drew strong audience response and included a Spanish dance by Margaret Coakley and Mary Agnes Sullivan. The Creston high school band performed downtown while grade pupils prepared operettas for tonight. Chester, May 11 Fifty years the people of Chester county saw Abe Gibson leap and reel as a marvel. Abraham Gibson 85, a Confederate veteran, remains active and father of 24 children of whom 18 survive. His Civil War service included the Hampton cavalry and Yorktown era lineage through Capt William Watson. He has married twice, with his first wife Sally Dye dying at 48 and his present wife Elizabeth Roe.

The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered northern state routes to install back and side engine cab curtains for firemen and engineers from November 10 to April 1 each year. Curtains apply to 26 states including Illinois Iowa Minnesota Missouri Nebraska South Dakota and the District of Columbia with a hood curtain on northmost routes. Ventilator openings outside the curtained area were required for oil burning locomotives. Wisconsin railroad commission filed the complaint yielding the order with support from the engineers and firemen unions.
