Des Moines county prepares a plan to aid landowners in flooded districts north of Burlington where 17,000 acres are underwater from the Mississippi flood. The plan calls for county and state assistance via farm bureaus and local authorities to aid affected owners.
The Order of Railroad Conductors may move its headquarters from Cedar Rapids Iowa to Cleveland Ohio at its eighteenth grand division session opening in Celveland May 1. Officials argue the change would let leaders stay in closer touch with counterparts in the United States Canada and Mexico and other transporting brother hoods.
Washington May 1 The House approved the Dunn bill by a 289 to 31 vote authorizing a 65 million dollar appropriation for road building for the coming fiscal year and 75 million dollars for the following year, with President and officials noting strong support.
