Buenos Aires reports a 5,000,000 peso Argentine aid gift to Vienna included bacon found in Hamburg as having originated in the United States. The bacon, about 600 tons, was said to be so rotten it could not be used even for soap making, and Austrian officials planned sale.
Robert Rosenbluth former United States army captain charged with murdering Major Alexander Cronkhite at Camp Lewis Washington on October 25 1918 was released today by Federal Judge John Co Knox on a 25000 bond. He agreed to return to Seattle to answer charges in the United States district court.

Gov. Boyle signed a bill in Carson City making lethal gas the sole method of execution in Nevada. The law sets a 60 to 90 day window for the death warrant and requires a warden, a physician, and six citizens to witness. It calls for an air tight cell with thick glass and gas valves to carry out the execution.

Toledo March 29 6000 to 7000 workers will return to the Overland automobile plant Monday according to Vice President Charles B Wilson and officials. The decision follows a planned layoff period and affects the local workforce in Toledo Ohio.
Cedar Rapids March 29 A H Beecher socialist won the mayoralty by 44 votes defeating Howard D Reynolds who was unopposed at the primary. Beecher drew labor support while Ottumwa and Fort Dodge also report mayoral results with re-elections and new commissioners.
In Chicago on March 29 a well dressed mysterious woman visited a sidewalk crypt and a body of an unidentified man, dead about two months, was found beneath the embankment. Walter Jones, a factory watchman, saw the woman enter the sidewalk hole and the police are seeking her. The victim, about 35, 5 feet 8 inches, 200 pounds, wore clothes with laundry mark 743-R. Authorities suspect murder, though Dr. Hartigan notes head injuries could be from contact with cinders. poison may be involved if death was not natural.
