Poison in near beer targets county attorney in Iowa town
Marshalltown, March 28. Harold Grimes and Ross Campbell, brothers in law, are jailed after police say a plot to kill County Attorney Roy J. Pell involved poison in two bottles of near beer. The beer, found in a businessman's auto, matched Pell's car, and chemical tests show enough poison to kill many. Grimes admits buying poison but says another man put it in the beer. Campbell is linked as he heard of the plan. Police suspect revenge for Pell's liquor prosecutions.
