Chicago police arrest Charles Schader and Frank Lee with Schader’s mother on a spree of crimes from larceny to murder. A deaf mute woman was assaulted and two hundred burglaries are alleged with $25 in goods recovered.
Constantinople reports the Italian steamship Abbassia has been released after being seized by a Greek warship for carrying contraband for Turkish nationalists. Greece also freed the steamer Umbria and the relief ship Francesca, which had been in custody briefly. Francesca proceeded to Novorossisk. France and Italy plan to seek indemnities from Greece for the actions.
Two ships arriving from European ports carried remarkable acts and unusual passengers. The Sudbury from Hamburg brought 57 wild tame and trained animals for a circus plus one ballyhoo man claiming the European side show barking championship.
