At a Monday meeting of the Union County Red Cross Board of Directors at the Iowana hotel, it was decided to extend County Health Nurse Miss Mable Guthrie’s work until June 15. Her contract would have expired the 15th, with financing arranged. Guthrie reported significant progress across county sections in the past year.
Word reached Creston through County Auditor W G Wickham that Walter D L Wickham formerly of near Afton was seriously injured in Des Moines on Saturday when a skull was crushed after being caught between a automobile truck and a freight car. He works in the Beaver Coal Company office and is in serious condition at the Methodist hospital.
A voluntary petition in bankruptcy was filed in the clerk of the United States district court by Newton O Burns a farmer of Taylor county. He lists liabilities of 25863.04 and assets of 2420 with 420 exempt.
Mr and Mrs Wm Hawks of Lincoln township welcomed a baby daughter named Mary Teresa born Monday evening at Greater Community Hospital. The note also lists subscribers renewing Adver tiser Gazette including J F Miller Shannon City Hugo Birkner Creston and others.

Loyal Workers of the Christian church will gather in the church parlors Wednesday afternoon for an event hosted by president Mrs E A Boortz. A good attendance is urged. The third division will entertain all class society members and families Thursday at 7 30 in the church parlors with a good time anticipated.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Spanish War Veterans will be entertained Friday afternoon by Miss Mamie Sellers at her home, 519 West Adams Street.
Members of the Standard Bearers of the Methodist church will meet at the church this evening. An interesting program has been planned and a large attendance is expected from the congregation.
Creston Lodge No. 605 B P O Elks will hold a regular meeting Thursday evening March 16 at the Home. Several candidates will be initiated followed by a social session. A 159 pound pig donated by Wm Wallace of Greenfield will be butchered, cooled and roasted for the pig feed.
The Iris Club will be entertained tomorrow afternoon at the home of Mrs. J Earl Kunath 608 West Adams Street A very interesting and enjoyable meeting is anticipated with a large attendance expected.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Henri Boyd arrived in Creston Monday night on No. 9 to visit John Boyd on East Chestnut Street. Mrs. Boyd spent the winter in New York City pursuing voice study and recital work. Ernest Boyd recently completed a concert tour in the south with Mr. Cozad of Chicago as his pianist.
On Thursday afternoon the members of St Pauls Guild will be entertained by Mrs Harry N Rex. All members and friends of the Guild are cordially invited.
Creston high school orchestra announces its fifth public concert to be held in the high school assembly room on March 24 evening. The program will be entirely new, offering a fresh selection for audiences.
