Three Creston men Elton Johnston Dale Hamilton and David Gross joined the Marines on November 18 1927 and are serving in Nicaragua where U S soldiers were killed or fatally wounded in an ambush yesterday. Johnston is with Company 55 Eleventh Regiment based in the area reported by his mother Mrs George A Johnston of 803 North Highland Street.

Marines Repel Rebels in Rugged Jungle Action
Corporal Cicero D. Austin and Private Curtis J. Mott led a detachment returning with an 80 mile train from Yale to Condega when heavy brush fire halted their advance.
