Kansas City June 13. Republicans install permanent officers and seat Texas Hoover delegates amid farm relief dispute. Farm plank wrangle and prohibition issue loom. platform committee to report tonight with possible floor clash on farm relief and prohibition.
Two suits filed in district court against the city of Creston seek a total of 18000 in damages from S J Madison and the firm of S J and Emma Madison claim their land near the city is damaged by the sewage line and septic tank. The petitions allege a 2100 foot pipeline from the disposal plant across the farm to the septic tank was improperly constructed causing overflows and broken joints.
Cyril L. Coussens of Des Moines urged strict Kiwanis ideals and stronger US Canada friendship. He praised club work for underprivileged children and noted Creston Kiwanis will enter a float in the July Fourth parade. Directors agreed to buy a silk flag for a local Boy Scout troop and urged attendance at the June 22 farm bureau picnic.
Des Moines reports the Iowa weather and crop bureau says the corn crop is very good to excellent after the third cultivation. Progress is slow due to low temperatures and scarce rainfall with corn six to ten inches tall. Oats are short, winter wheat heads vary from good to poor, barley is fairly good, and hay yields are only fair while other hay may be short. Early potatoes bloom in southern Iowa.

Creston Chamber offices are closed for redecorating as Union County seeks a three member judging team with one alternate to represent at the Iowa state fair.
Rome reports from the Italia expedition state General Umberto Nobile was injured on his right arm and leg when the gondola tore free north of Spitzbergen. Dr Finn Malmgren sustained arm contusions, Cecioni had a broken leg, with Malmgren already recovering by May 30 and Cecioni needing extended care.

In Kansas City on June 13 a crowd of farmers and supporters tried twice to force a protest march into the Republican convention hall against Herbert Hoover. Police faced the throng with drawn firearms as leaders urged restraint before the march was redirected away from the door amid chants and objections.

Boys direct autos on a single track road from primary No 34 at Talmage to Mt Pisgah for the D A R dedication tomorrow. The ceremony begins at 10 30 AM with Boy Scouts guiding traffic. A second dedication will follow at Graceland cemetery for Nancy McKay Harsh.
A luncheon at the Hotel Iowana drew 30 to 40 bakers from southwestern Iowa to the convention. About 50 to 60 attended the afternoon meeting and a Gonklin bakery demonstration on West Montgomery street focused on sweet goods to close the event. Representatives from several bakers supply firms were present.
