No Time Set for Gibson's Motion
Late this afternoon no action had been taken to set a time for hearing a motion for a new trial filed in district court by OT. Gitwin for George H. Gibson, who was here last week on a murder charge. Judge Homer Willer, who heard the case, is holding court in Corning this week with no definite hearing time set before the end of the term. The motion, filed Monday, lists sixteen grounds. Gibson was found guilty of the murder of Sheriff N F Collings and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was taken to Polk County Jail in Des Moines after verdict and is expected to be returned here for the motion arguments and possible sentencing. If denied, he will be sent to Fort Madison.
