Hogs receipts 2500 with prices up to 13.75 and bulk at 13.25 to 13.75. Cattle receipts 3500 with steers bulk 8.00 to 13.50, top 14.25. cows and heifers 3.25 to 12.50. calves 4.50. Stocker and feeders 5.25. Sheep receipts 2000 with lambs 14.25 to 15.35, ewes 6.00 to 8.00. lambs higher, sheep steady.
St Louis cash grain reports July 30 with prices for wheat No 2 red 1.61 to 1.83 and No 2 hard red 1.56. corn No 2 mixed 1.07 No 2 white 1.07 No 2 yellow 1.10. oats No 2 white 42.42 and No 4 white 40.41.
Minneapolis reports flour prices with a 10 cent drop for family patent, bran priced at 24.00 and general ranges from 8.70 to 8.90, reflecting small adjustments in the July market.
Chicago livestock market report shows hogs receipts at 15 000 with active packers and mixed trade, weights from 140 to 225 pounds trading around 14.00 to 14.30, heavier hogs 13.25 to 14.10, slaughter pigs up to 15.50. Lynmn Wheeler former police captain was dragged from the street into a house under construction. He was beaten kicked and left on the street as the assailants fled westward toward an automobile with guns. In Dubuque Iowa John Hillery 58 died after swallowing poison in the county jail. He was unmarried.

MAHA LIVESTOCK reports July receipts with hogs 10 to 20 cents higher on better grades, cattle showing active demand for steers and yearlings, veal steady while heavy calves weaken, lambs 10 cents higher with fat range 15.00 to 15.25. Official estimates for tomorrow: hogs 15,000 carts 8,000 sheep 4,000.
One hundred retail clothiers from northwestern Iowa are in Waterloo for a session on July 30 to discuss problems affecting their business. Attendees expressed optimism about the current business outlook.
The MacMillan Arctic expedition became wedged in Melville Bay ice yesterday but expected to free itself as fog lifted and the Geographic Society anticipated a safe outlook for a later exit.

East St. Louis sale notes high draft horses at 150 to 175 dollars and good eastern chunks 75 to 100 dollars. Southern horses bring 45 to 75 dollars. Mules range from 60 to 225 dollars with heights 14.3 to 17 hands. 15 to 16.2 hands 125 to 190 dollars. 16 to 17 hands 175 to 225 dollars.

The 1926 Iowa grand lodge meeting of the Knights of Pythians Pythian Sisters and Knights of Khorashan will be held in Des Moines Iowa. Des Moines was invited by Harry Cree and the vote followed the convention sessions. A fund to aid in the education of worthy young folk was approved.
William Darling Shepherd filed notice of appeal from a probate court denial of the will of William Nelson McClintock. The appeal was placed in the circuit court with Weymouth Kirkland as counsel. A hearing is not expected for nearly a year.
Rob Roy Benton announced that Jack Dempsey and Jack Kearns have divided their real estate holdings and reached an agreement ensuring Kearns a share of profits from any Dempsey bout before September 1926. The spokesman said no bout is set for Michigan City next September and that only the planned fall 1926 bout with Harry Wills is definite.
Basel July 30. A 16 year old Austrian farm hand named Johna Hammerdchlegel was arrested for the murder of Mrs. Mary Levitt Bowen of Berkeley California found dead in a Basel park. Police say he confessed claiming the shooting was accidental. Bowen had come to Basel for university lectures.
The recount fight over uncontested votes continues as Steck challenges ballots in Clinton county and Brookhart supporters report gains from clerical corrections. Officials say ballots printed improperly may invalidate Steck and Brookhart votes, with Clinton county contributing to the tally and a potential senate investigation course.
In Waterloo Iowa on July 30 Mrs Waterman Davenport the current state champion advances toward the semifinals by defeating Miss Drake Mason City 3 and 2 and tying the Sunnyside course record. Mrs Strohbehn beats Miss Driffill 5 and 3 and Mrs Robb defeats Mrs Ebi 2 up.
Attorney J G Mitchell wires L H Cook to a senate recount panel explaining Iowa statute 2 on scratched ballots. The law allows a voter to place a cross in the party circle or vote for any or all candidates in that party column by crossing the candidates’ names.
Canton July 30 The arrival of a British deputation to present demands to the Chinese government is expected within two weeks. Two British air transports and carrier are anticipated from India and troops will be sent to reinforce British units nearby. The general strike of Chinese against foreigners continues.
An Hong Kong telegram says 11 Chinese strikers were killed in Canton by the bodyguard of an official. A mob had gathered demanding a daily cash strike allowance. The report notes Russians arriving from Vladivostok and ships at Whampoa, with both white and red Russians present in China.
Seabright New Jersey July 30 Helen Wills overwhelmed Mrs Molla Mallory in the semifinals of the women singles at the Seabright Invitation tournament. The California star won 6 1 6 0 in 25 minutes and will meet Elizabeth Ryan of England and California who defeated Mary Browne 4 6 6 2 6 4 to reach the final.
Jones and Dubuque county supervisors meet to prevent a repeat of last month's flood that destroyed over 1.5 million in property. Debates focus on widening the Maquoketa river at Cascade, deepening the channel, removing the dam, and building a suspension bridge at the old stone structure.
Cedar Rapids reports Charles Breckner 21 died after a car rollover near Cascade as Bernard Luhismann and Frank Saha suffered fractured arms and bruises while returning from a dance. Two Dyersville youths escaped injury. The wreck occurred around midnight with Breckner crushed under the vehicle and taken to a Monticello hospital where he died.
Official cars representing Ottumwa Burlington Keokuk Oskaloosa and Pella will accompany a Des Moines to Billings caravan for the Custer Battlefield Highway association annual meeting. The group departs Des Moines August 5 at 8 a m and aims for Fort Dodge for lunch along the route with special entertainment planned.

Shenandoah Iowa July 30 Charles I Hurst president of the Iowa farm bureau federation will address the Walnut township farm bureau gathering Friday night at George Teachouts home. A picnic supper will precede the meeting.
A Wednesday evening dance at the McKinley Park pavilion drew 125 couples with many out of town guests. Orchestra music supplied the entertainment for the dancers.
The Lots O Fun club met Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. Fred Harp’s home. Sewing and contests were enjoyed with Mrs. Lester Roswell and Mrs. John Ow earning the honors. Refreshments were served, concluding a pleasant afternoon. Guests included Mrs. Warold Vanderlinden, Mrs. Lester Boswell, Mrs. John Deer, Mrs. Harry Searls, Mrs. Leo Weidman, and Mrs. John Oller.
Mr and Mrs Raymond Ballreich hosted Mr and Mrs Harold Vanderlinden, Mr and Mrs Walter Eastman and Mr and Mrs Leo Weichman for a Wednesday Five Hundred game night. Mrs Weidman and Mr Eastman won prizes. Dainty refreshments were served at the close.
On Wednesday twelve members attended a daytime meeting at Mrs. Julia Hawks home north of the city. Following the business session light refreshments were served. Out of town guest Miss Bernice Geis of Kansas City, Missouri, joined the gathering.
L S members assisted four families of its membership at the J A Franklin home on Buckeye street for their tenth wedding anniversaries. About 20 members and families attended with cards and visits. Four couples received silver spoons from Mrs. Charles B Heflen as thanks for the society. Card winners were M BE Kivett and Mrs Roy Huhn. Out of town guests included Mr and Mrs Alonzo Creighton of Orient.
In Vinton on July 30 the board of supervisors, with the highway commission, set contracts for grading, bridging and tiling ten miles of the Lincoln highway from the Benton Linn county line east to Junction. The move ends a county road fight over relocation after petitions with about 3100 signatures were submitted. The petitions to relocate were refused.

F H Seeley of Chicago and Philadelphia, renowned truss expert, will be at the Iowana Hotel Creston Wednesday Aug 5. He promises the Spermatic Shield can contract openings in ten days on average, claims England and Spain awards, and that no surgery or prescriptions are needed. Seeley warns against elastic or web trusses and offers free demonstrations with government documents on display.
