William Jennings Bryan died in his Dayton Tennessee sleep and will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. A special Southern Railway car will carry his body to Washington with Mrs Bryan and a Dayton escort. Burial place and time to be announced later. Bryan was a former secretary of state and Spanish American War veteran.
Vice President Dawes lauds Bryan saying he never did worthy or mean things and aimed to do right as he saw it. Senator Ashurst credits his oratory, sturdy frame, and zeal with advancing income tax, woman suffrage, prohibition, and direct election of senators.

William Jennings Bryan is found dead in Dayton near Chattanooga at about 5 p.m. He dominated the Democratic Party for nearly 16 years and helped shape Woodrow Wilson's nomination. Born March 19, 1860 in Salem Illinois, Bryan was famed for the cross of gold speech and three presidential campaigns. Continues on Page 2.

State tallies include Ohio 29 Illinois 22 Indiana 13 Missouri and Minnesota 9 each. In South Dakota Frank J Sory, pioneer South Dakota newspaper mapmaker, and his wife were killed when their car was struck by a Chicago and Northwestern passenger train near Iroquis. Burial will be in Nashua.

Centerville July 27 John D Green a 45 year old coal miner was found dead in the road at Cincinnati Ia. His arm and three ribs were broken a broken flask was found in his pocket A coroner s jury will investigate Green was unmarried.
Concentrated News Co. B. McGregor and daughter Margaret and cousin Miss Sarah Cunningham arrived home Saturday noon from a five week motor trip through the east. They visited Miss Cunningham's home in East Palestine Ohio Virginia Pennsylvania New York Niagara Falls and Canada.
Elmer Munson father of George Z. Munson of 805 West Montgomery street died Sunday at his Denver home after a long illness. He suffered a stroke of paralysis two years ago and had remained in poor health since.
A longtime restaurant operator who lived here for many years left about fifteen years ago. He is survived by his widow and one son, George. George Munson left Sunday evening for Denver, and funeral arrangements will be announced upon his arrival there.
Dr A B Leamer resigns after 17 years as pastor of St Johns Lutheran to become president of the Iowa Synod United Lutheran Church. The resignation takes effect Oct 1 after his election at Muscatine annual convention.

Old man Bad Breake led Creston to a 12 to 7 slugging win over Dunlap in a Sunday game. Creston earned runs totaled four while Dunlap benefited from breaks to secure the victory as Bischoff pitched all nine for Creston and Hanson supported Dunlap with solid defense.
A heavy rain storm with strong wind swept the Selby sailboat on Clear Lake at 5 pm Sunday. E. S. Selby and W. H. Baird of Mason City were rescued by local speedboats after two other vessels spotted the men clinging to the hull. The rescued men were taken to the outing club. Selby is chamber of commerce president and Baird heads a sugar factory.
Walter Hagen of Florida, the famed golfer, shot a 35 on Crestmoor Golf Club’s last nine, a one under par, despite poor greens. He drove over 300 yards on several holes, securing two birdies and 12 pars, with Hagen and Tom Lynch posting 159 to beat McKee and Reynolds 162 in the foursome.

Ottumwa July 27. Ben Beer 65 a farmer living six miles east of Keosauqua was killed Saturday night by a bull. He had rode out in search of stock and was found in a field with his horse tied to a lance nearby. Beer was a bachelor.
