Eugene Patterson Chapman 90, a retired farmer of Prescott, died at 4 pm Wednesday at Greater Community hospital after a stroke suffered in Creston. Funeral services set for 10 am Friday at the Prescott Christian church with Rev. W B Crewdson. Masonic rites to be held at Mt Zion cemetery. His wife Mrs Chapman died two years ago. a son William resided with him.

A carload of cattle owned by Iowa farmer Mr. Worsley was sent to market by the Farmers Union live stock commission. Yearling steers and heifers weighing about 900 pounds brought $16 per hundred, with lighter cattle selling around $130, $1075 and $9. The cattle were raised and fed on Worsley’s 416 acre Kent area farm.

Plane Bound For Sweden Goes Down
Rockford, July 26. Backers of Bert Hassell and Parker Cramer planned a Stockholm flight despite a crash that halted the first attempt. The Greater Rockford monoplane crashed in a cornfield six miles from the airport after takeoff, with a cracked wing and damage from a heavy load. Pilots blamed excessive weight and poor air conditions. Hassell and Cramer were taken back to the airport. Hassell later departed in another plane for Chicago. About 6,000 spectators were on hand.

Adair to Let Gravel Contracts on State Roads

Tramp Buys Meal Then Robbery on Train Near Creston
A tramp male bought a meal for a fellow traveler on a Burlington freight train headed west. Two other men later struck Lamb with a blackjack and robbed him of $840 as the train reached Creston.
