Fort Des Moines readies to host 1 668 students for the Citizens Military Training Camp from August 1 to 30, an increase of about 400 from 1925. Young men aged 17 to 24 from Nebraska Iowa and Missouri attend, with additional CMF students at Fort Leavenworth Fort Snelling and Jefferson Barracks. Reserve and regular army officers train as instructors. The second battalion of the seventeenth infantry is stationed at Fort Des Moines, having moved from Fort Omaha, while the third battalion arrived from Fort Snelling.
Students entering the 1926 camp will receive doubled gear including four breeches and four shirts. Collar ornaments double to two per student and two shoes issued one for dress and one for work. Arrival expected July 31 with reporting on August 1 after processing. Mornings feature infantry drill while afternoons focus on athletics and some advance study.
Boston dispatch reports in the Commercial Bulletin that manufacturers bought moderately in the wool market this week with prices generally firm. In the west the Rosewell New Mexico sale cleaned up old wools at a $1.05 basis, while east India wools showed gains and mohair remained firm. Shipments and receipts to July 22, 1926, rose versus the prior year.

Des Moines reports confirm Drake University expelled star hurdler and high jumper George R. Simpson for scholastic slump not domestic issues. Miss Pauline Lyle of Waco Nebraska left this morning for home after a day in the city spent in attending the funeral of the late Miss Dorothea Preers held Thursday afternoon. Emily and Lois Candee of Des Moines arrived Thursday by motor and will spend the weekend as guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scullen at 207 South Sumner Avenue.
