Big Concerts in McKinley Park and Corning City
The Corning municipal band and Creston band unite for a joint concert next Sunday at McKinley Park with about forty five players. Creston visits Corning Wednesday for the regular concert. Charles Hetlen of Creston will be soloist. The Corning band will return the favor next Sunday with a soloist. Jeno Hubay and Bela Bartók have been named to Hungary’s House of Lords. Florence Easton has sung 88 opera roles and over 300 performances. Donald McGuffin spent the weekend driving from Logan to join the municipal band. The three largest German harmonica makers shipped 21 million mouth organs worldwide last year. Gussie Nettibnstie spent the weekend in Town City. Mrs. Fred W. Boesch of Burlington marks 40 years as church organist. Macksburg band members and others from Winterset attended the concert. Clifton Fiddick returned from six weeks at Kansas University and will teach music this fall with Eugene Christy.
