A Southern Utilities employee, Schmoll, suffered severe burns to both arms and neck after a boiler tube ruptured at the light plant on 605 North Birch Street. Water flooded the boiler room. city light service was interrupted briefly. He was treated at Greater Community hospital and later returned home. Damaged brickwork was repaired by morning.

Woman Armits Firing Three Shots At Brother Near Creston
Mrs. Fred W. Grandfield, 52, fired three rounds from a 38 caliber revolver at her brother Frank Ford yesterday at a Creston area home, wounding him lightly. Ford wrestled the gun away and led the woman to the county jail after deputies removed him for treatment. Insanity commissioners ordered Grandfield committed to Clarinda State Hospital this afternoon amid a delusion she was being plotted against.

Red Cross Training in Life Saving At McKinney Park
The Red Cross will offer life saving training at McKinney Park Lake next Monday and Tuesday July 23 and 24. James Foxer, special representative of the national Red Cross, will conduct the instruction. A committee including Marshall Camp, Mrs Harold Arnold, Stella Spies, LA Nordhausen and Harry Coen will organize classes open to the public with sessions at 10 am 2 30 pm and 7 20 pm each day.

Mrs. J T Arnold of Creston area died Sunday morning at 7 o'clock at the home of her son Oran Arnold 201 Booth Birch Street. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the son's home with Rev. George Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. She suffered a fractured hip when she fell on July 1 and had been in serious condition since. She was 77 years old and mother of 10 children.
