On July 16 in Rock Island Illinois a marker marks the site of Sauk E Eauk the westernmost Revolutionary battle. Col John Montgomery and veterans from the George Rogers Clark expedition burned the village in 1780 and records show the furthest west troops penetrated. The marker was raised by the Col John Montgomery chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
