Polen Charged with Manslaughter in Iowa Crash

Byrle Healey 17 of Garden City South Dakota was killed by Winfred Meek 21 and Robert Lappler after allegedly being begged to end her life. The two told State's Attorney H. Fire Department Busy With Two Alarm Afternoon
The fire department responded to two alarms this afternoon in rapid succession. At 12980 Mille Street and Bureau, a roof blaze at the John Bassett residence caused several hundred dollars in damage, insured according to the owner. A second call was to the Charles Sturm pool hall on West Adams Street where an oil mop fire caused little damage. Firemen retrieved gear used at Bassett’s and returned to service promptly.

Three circuses performers were killed when struck by a railroad train in Albany New York.
