Tokia January 27. Akio Ozaki, member of the organization and advocate of military and naval programs, has asked that resolutions urging world powers to restrict armament be sent to the Diet. A conservative organ says most members of the opposition party oppose the measure as idealistic and impracticable.
Washington January 27 Acting Treasurer Allen announced a total of 13,883,819,862,? in cash and securities found in the treasury after the count prompted by John Burke's resignation. The sum is about 10 billion more than usual, largely from foreign government deposits for war loans.
In Chicago on January 27 the United States Railway Labor Board ordered rescinded notices of wage reductions on the Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad. The decision states the railroads had petitioned for wage cuts and the board acted to halt the planned February reductions.
Washington January 27 Wheat in the United States on hand January 1 1921 was estimated at 320 million bushels by the Department of Agriculture. This compares with 17 million bushels on hand a year earlier.
The forecast for the next twenty four hours indicates generally fair skies and a relatively warm spell tonight and Friday. Temperatures are expected to rise modestly with light winds and comfortable conditions prevailing across the city.
Weather summary reports a 24 hour period ending 7 a m with snow or related precipitation observed. Dr H M Stanley recorded the observations as part of the local weather notes.
State Representative J M Ramsey and aides outline a redistricting plan for Iowa with ten districts. Each district lists included counties and total population figures. Speaker Arch McFarlane also proposes cutting Iowa House committees from sixty four to thirty four and sets size limits for each panel.
Albert Wehrchamp and Clara Warneke attempted a holdup north of Clarinda, taking $40 from a Berthesda store till. They fled to Clarinda, watched a movie, then returned where Sheriff Borland captured them. They confessed and led to the gun and most of the money, with partial recovery. They await trial.
Washington January 27 The House passed an agricultural appropriation bill carrying about 34 million dollars. The measure now goes to the Senate for consideration.
Mrs Cathleen N Vanderbilt and Sidney Jones Coldford Jr of Port Avenue obtained a New York marriage license at the municipal building. Vanderbilt, 35, divorced from Reginald C Vanderbilt in 1919, and Coldford, also 35, recently divorced in Rhode Island, have two minor daughters. The couple did not indicate a wedding date.
Winfield experiences a shooting scare as city marshal fires at Claude Neal after a dispute ending with a slap. Neal pretends to be hit, lies still, then is found unharmed by doctors. A preliminary hearing for the marshal is planned soon.
Iowa City report states Paul Pry bil was bound over to the grand jury on a charge of failure to marry after obtaining a license earlier, the license later being cancelled following a claim by Miss Edna Humzing er. The incident centers on a betrothal linked to the invalidated license.
Des Moines January 27 The Senate confirmed most appointments sent by Governor Kendall on January 25 with Mary H. Snyder of Davenport postponed. Confirmed were Miss Anna Lawther Dubuque on the state board of education Mrs Jas A Devitt Oskaloosa on the board of education Chas A Thomas Creston on the state Ed F Schoentgen renominated for the state board of education and Whsen Cornwall Clay county board of parole.
In Des Moines on January 27 a senate resolution asked the late highway commission for a county by county report on motor vehicle funds and federal aid, current balances, and any excess spending. Action was not taken that day and no exec session was scheduled. A separate bill would require drivers to carry a license card and log court dispositions to curb auto theft and harsh penalties for joy riding.
Three automobile bandits held up messengers of the Drover National Bank in Kansas City Missouri and escaped with 95300 in non negotiable checks. The messengers were being driven in a taxicab to the clearing house downtown.
January 27 report says Charles Knoke soldering an empty gasoline tank caused an explosion and fire that destroyed a paint store and repair shop. Loss estimated at 53500 dollars. Knoke was uninjured.
A preliminary U S Japan treaty amendment would grant equal civil rights to Japanese nationals. Ambassadors Shidehara and Mortis reached the accord, reported by a Washington dispatch via the Sacramento Bee.

Discovery of a rich zinc ore deposit is reported on the H. H. Van farm three miles northwest of Griswold. Earl Willoughby, Atlantic, credited with the find, collected samples and secured leases on adjacent farmland. The deposit is described as seemingly limitless and drawing early interest from local and western mining circles.
Howard Greene secretary of the National Sheep and Wool Bureau of America urged continued support for the truth in fabric bill at the annual convention of the merchant tailors of America in Chicago. He argued passage would not push shoddy firms out but label publicity would force price cuts and create competition among manufacturers.
Des Moines legislature halted further action on increasing Miss Mabel Elwood's pay from seven to nine dollars a day after Lieutenant Governor Hamil ruled that a negative conference committee vote killed the measure. The stalled dispute delays legislative employees' pay and may require a fresh start.
Des Moines reports that Iowa will appeal to the state supreme court to block railroads from collecting a 26 cent per mile passenger rate. Attorney General Gurson and rail committees discussed the issue after a joint session with the house and senate.

The body of a newborn baby, warm and deceased, was found at the Grand hotel in Clinton. A couple registered as Charles Baker and wife of Marion had checked out about thirty minutes earlier, according to Coroner C F Kellogg. The infant was only a few hours old.
Red Oak Louisiana January 27 taxes mount with total county levy at 062,000, up 108,000 from last year. The largest item is school tax at 585,000. Villisea levy stands at 182 mills, the highest in the county, while Red Oak carries 153 mills.
