Fire destroys Lane home on Krise farm near city
A two story frame house on the N A Krise farm beyond the city limits on North Cherry street was destroyed by fire this afternoon. The insured value was 700 to 750 dollars with household goods mostly uninsured due to R E Lane having occupied the place 21 days and not transferring a policy. Fire started from a defective flue. Initial address confusion delayed the response and the roof burned solid as water lacked supply. Firemen used chemicals to fight the blaze with little effect. This is the Krise farm's second major fire after last fall when the barn burned.
