In Nauvoo Illinois on January 19 authorities announced discovery of the buried bodies of Joseph Smith founder of Mormonism and his brother Hyrum. The remains were located in a mouldy basement and will be placed in a tomb at Nauvoo in the presence of church officials from Independence Missouri.

Tornado Kills One and Injures Many Across Ohio and Kentucky
A violent tornado swept southern Ohio causing one death and numerous injuries. The dead man was A R Kruger of Dayton, killed as a building coping struck his car in Washington Court House. Heaviest damage appeared in Cumminsville East Hamilton and Hamilton. Communication lines were down, with hospital reports tallying around a dozen injuries. Damage was initially estimated over 100000. Several students sustained injuries at East Hamilton when a school was struck.
