C J Woodbury director of raw products research for the National Canners Association told a meeting in Atlantic City that the era of cheap food from the farmer has passed and is unlikely to return due to the end of exploiting cheap lands. He urged closer cooperation between armor and canners to boost per acre yields.
Robbers broke into the Farmers' State bank at Rea, Mo., twenty miles north of St. Joseph, and obtained $200 in postage stamps and $41 in pennies. They also carried off a number of safety deposit boxes.

The Buffalo board of education had removed Julia D Pratt after a 17 year tenure. The decision upheld the dismissal as determining she is unfit to teach in the state system.
Marion Ohio January 18 President-elect Harding said no date has been fixed for a special session of Congress and the date may not be set until after his March 4 inauguration. He noted April 4 has been suggested as the opening date since the Ways and Means Committee expects to report a tariff bill by then.
Peking reports a 4,000 400 taels loan from American British French and Japanese banks to fund famine relief in Chinese districts. The loan is secured by a 10 percent customs surtax, with the start date to be fixed, and was concluded by the finance ministry with diplomat approval.

Albert Rowan son of C T Rowan prominent Dallas businessman surrendered to police after being charged with robbing the Jackson street post office on Friday. W T Scrivner named Rowan mastermind in the robbery and also surrendered.
Sioux City Iowa reports Frank Leamer aged 41 from South Sioux City Nebraska was killed when his clothing was caught in an ice planing machine while cutting ice on a lake near here. His body was shredded by the rapidly moving blades.
Albert I Lauer, 44, first local federal court convict in income tax bribery, committed death by own action today. He was secretary of Briggs and Turivas Company, a million dollar iron and steel wrecking and salvaging firm. Trial showed he paid a federal agent $15,000 with more promised if a $78,000 tax discrepancy remained hidden.
