Old Officers Retained By Farm Group
Alquamayer was rejected president of the Union County Protective Association at the annual meeting held at the courthouse. Ray Wilson was re elected secretary and treasurer. A. E. Otis was again named vice president. The treasurer's report showed total receipts of 371 representing 371 members, while disbursements for the past two years were only 59.90, leaving a balance of 311.10 in the association treasury. Disbursements in 1927 were 210 and in 1926 they amounted to 57.80. The latter sum was expended for legal advice, signs, telephone calls, notices and advertising. The books were audited by Forrest Huss and L. A. Nordhausen. The association, which was formed to protect farm property from thieves, decided to encourage the marking of poultry to permit identification even after the birds are dressed. This system of marking will be explained by association speakers at township farm bureau meetings. Members of the association expressed the opinion Saturday that farm thefts had decreased noticeably in Union county since the organization began operations. The association is starting its third year.
