Denver police report a bandit found dead in a Capitol Hill garage was shot and killed instantly by a resident. The case, described as a direct confrontation, ends with authorities attributing the fatal wound to the homeowner’s gunfire. Investigators await formal statements and survey the scene.
Paris reports Germany’s livestock steel wood and coal deliveries may default. French forces extend occupation eastward from ten to fifteen kilometers with Bochum and Gelsenkirchen seized. Berlin notes Ruhr mines barred from coal to France, aiming to push German costs onto Paris.
Marion Jan. 15 The defense of the five miners is expected to rest today with only a few witnesses remaining. The assistant attorney general said three bullets were fired into Geo Milburn's home by men in an automobile. Fred Stein of Denver Colorado visiting the city with friends expects to return to his home this evening according to local notices.
Herbert Blake Van Alstein of Omaha confessed at Belle vue hospital that he shot and killed vaudeville actress Mary McLaren and wounded her brother Hugo after she rejected his love. He said he aimed to avoid telling his mother Mrs. C. H. Thomas of Omaha and described the restaurant shooting near the Pennsylvania station before the McLarens boarded a train to Philadelphia.
Newton Iowa January 15 Bert Neilgers aged 60 was killed by a dynamite blast while blasting a road bank near Green Castle. The Associated Press reports the fatal accident occurred today.
Des Moines reports say the Iowa legislature will reconvene tomorrow and likely hold daily sessions toward the March mid session break. Rumors speak of a farm bloc and a tax law reform split in the tax committee, with Chairman Van Alstine and Sen. Ed Smith at odds over taxation of intangible assets. The committee is drafting an income tax bill and most other recommendations enjoy near unanimity.
The Supreme Court ruled today that the south bank of the Red River becomes the boundary between Texas and Oklahoma in the Red River case, marking a historic boundary decision by the high court.

Boston Jan 15 The steamship Liberty and the British schooner Dorin sent calls for help from two miles apart south of Cape Cod. The steamer Sarcoxie towed the Liberty while the coast guard cutter Tampa prepared to assist the Dorin after wireless messages were intercepted at the naval radio station.
Chicago January 15 The weather indications for the next twenty four hours call for fair tonight and Tuesday with little temperature change. The period January 15 to 20 is generally fair with snow probability Wednesday or Thursday and cold conditions most of the week.

A large fleet of boats searches the wreck off Havana for Ed win F. Atkins Jr. and two children Edwin II and David and Grace McDonald after the Columbus airliner collapsed 21 miles north of Havana. Hope fades. no bodies or luggage salvaged. Mrs. Atkins remains in critical condition.
Des Moines Iowa January 15. Joe Williams a negro shot and killed his wife Lulu Williams then shot himself in the head in their home. Police report no motive given. The tragedy ends a domestic incident that shocked the neighborhood.
Albert Fodor a Fort Worth printer and author who vanished August 30 reappeared Friday afternoon claiming he was abducted from Dallas. He says he was held in a cave in the Osage mountains and blindfolded in a car to a point near Hominy Oklahoma a week earlier before being released.
Reverend W. L. Cain plans to travel to Afton tonight to deliver an address before the Chamber of Commerce, outlining community goals and economic prospects.
Associated Press reports Senator Norris of Nebraska blocked the administrations plan for bond credits today, insisting the Senate take up his bill for a government corporation.
A Times dispatch from Rome reports former King Constantine of Greece was buried with military honors in Naples after Italy ordered an imposing ceremony. A Greek requiem Mass was held in a Greek church with Italian officials and Prince Nicholas of Greece attending. Constantine’s body will rest in a church room annex. Queen Sophie and the princess stay in Naples as guests of the Duchess of Aosta. Athens says Greece’s council of ministers refused to allow burial there.
Paris crowd cheers first screening of French entry into the Ruhr. Armored cars cyclists and cavalry depicted marching into Essen draw ovations. Spectators laugh at the surprised Germans as Communist sympathizers in Belleville hissed the film and were ejected by police.
In Cedar Rapids on January 15, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Drummond suffered serious burns from a fire caused by an oil stove explosion.
