President elect Harding plans a frills free inauguration on March 4. He will drop ball and parade plans, avoid large crowds in Washington, and have the oath administered inside the Capitol before resuming duties without delay.
William J Coleman restaurant owner died after a gunshot in January. Louise Meier 18 confessed she fired the shot claiming Coleman called her "too cute to shoot" and she shot him to escape a trap at a suburban park.
Los Angeles police say a body found under an overturned automobile is partly identified as Raymond C. Thorne of Montgomery Ward & Co Chicago.
The weather report notes fair conditions tonight with likely continuation into Wednesday. Slightly colder temperatures are expected tonight in the eastern portion with a warming trend Wednesday afternoon in the western portion.

Cedar Rapids Iowa January 11 news reports that Alburnett Savings Bank will pay 5 percent on time deposits during 1921. Linn county banks outside Cedar Rapids and nearby counties Belle Plaine and Benton report similar rate increases in time deposit interest. A county newspaper notes the Alburnett bank will pay 5 percent after January 1.
In Muskogee Oklahoma on January 11 a father praised Officer Paul Nobles who shot and killed 16 year old Eugene Wiley as he leaped from a window during a burglary. The boy was part of a youth gang aged 13 to 17. 15 year old Paul Bailey accompanied him and was arrested.
The Masonic club of Cornell for master Masons in the student body and faculty is organized this week in Mount Vernon Iowa. Charter members include Kenneth Danskin Hollis Joy Homer Coddington Anders K Jensen Lowell Henshaw Merrill Dryden professors Himstead Slaught and Chandler. Clarence Holmes is president and Raleigh Gatewood secretary and treasurer.
Cork Mayor Donald O Callaghan arrives in the United States as a stowaway and will testify Thursday before the Committee of 100 investigating conditions in Ireland. His passport issue remains unresolved as the State Department refuses to waive requirements.
Emmanuell Hersch of Muscatine seeks to disinherit his daughter Mrs. K F Kautz and leave 300000 to six grandchildren in a contested will. He first wrote a June 1919 will distributing assets among blood heirs, then, while under guardianship with Dr E F Fulham as guardian, drafted a second will in December 1919 that cut off Kautz. The case now goes to the court for decision.
Ed Pease committed death by his own action at his Bonaparte home by taking strychnine and laudanum. He lived apart from his wife for years and had chosen a casket days earlier. A three page letter explained he was no longer of value to society and where to find his papers.
The Massachusetts boxing commission ruled today that boxers appearing in bouts in the state may not wear the U S flag. The decision was made at the request of the American Legion, which also urged boxers to refrain from displaying religious signs in the ring.
Omaha police organize automobile squads armed with riot guns to stop crime. In early morning hours officers stop and question persons roaming the streets as part of the new initiative.
Des Moines January 11 Governor W L Harding sent to the senate two appointments M V Henderson as state bank commissioner for the unexpired Messenger term and B F Ketcham on the state board of education Hendersons term runs to July 1 1921 and Ketchams to 1923 The senate received the appointments in executive session A substitute bill on automobile license fee withholding until April 16 was introduced and sent to the house A joint session heard Harding deliver his farewell address urging code revision a constitutional convention an educational program state industry support and tax law revision.
Federal authorities unearth a hidden miniature distillery under a corn crib on the Hagerdorn farm near Manning. In two days fifteen stills were found, with sheriff Wilson reporting the record after raids across Carroll County last week.
Reports say the Turks launched several attacks to retake Aintab while the French withdraw to stronger positions for a counter offensive. Heavy fighting continues in the area.
Lieutenants Louis Kloor Jr. Walter Hinton and Stephen Farrell arrived at Mattice Ontario from Moose Factory after a sled trip east from Rockaway New York. They were greeted by reporters at 2:20 p m and appeared in excellent condition. Departure plans for returning east were not announced.
Paul Misner and Arthur Ingwersen, both about 20, are jailed on a charge of attempted holdup of Claud Porter, manager of a confectionery store. Ingwersen was wounded by a bullet near the heart but not fatally. Arrests followed Sheriff McKee and County Attorney Follett’s investigations. both defendants waived to the grand jury and are held on 1500 bonds. Misner is a farmer living north of Atlantic. Ingwersen works as a farm hand.
Los Angeles January 11. The jury panel publicized today for the murder trial of Mrs. Louise L. Peete contains twenty one men and no women. The case involves Jacob Charles Denton a mining promoter. Trial date is set for January 18.
In Dubuque Iowa today more than twenty five students from parochial schools were dismissed after refusing to be vaccinated under a city ordinance making vaccination compulsory for school children.
Two armed men slugged a messenger as he exited the Produce Exchange Bank in Kansas City Missouri, seized a satchel with 20000 in cash and 8000 in checks, and fled in an automobile.

SHEEP receipts 24 000 fat lambs 25¢ weaker. bulk prices not specified. Chicago Produce and Closing Grain notes: wheat 178 March, corn 74 to 75 May/July, oats 48 to 47 May/July. St. Joseph market shows similar cattle and hog trends. lambs 25 lower at opening. sheep steady.

Mrs Sawyer who has been quite ill at the home of her son E L Sawyer in the city for the past few days is reported to be somewhat better today.
Washington January 11 1921 Secretary Daniels urged a world disarmament conference as the alternative to the United States building a navy strong enough to command respect. He dismissed a lesser plan as wasteful and outlined counsel for Harding on naval matters. Acting Secretary Davis offered similar disarmament views before the House naval committee.
Five men tried to rob the Columbia bank but failed and were chased to Lebanon forty miles away where a fusillade failed to stop them. Authorities believe the gang was wounded and fled into the hills. A historic daylight robbery years earlier at the same bank left cashier R. A. F. Martin dead and a sizable sum taken, once linked to the James boys and Cole Younger.
The body of Mrs Jane Speers, 57, was discovered in a smoke filled kitchen at her Resley's Lake farm home near Atalissa by her brother Lucius Healy. The remains were burned almost beyond recognition.
Mr and Mrs Ivan Tillman move back to Creston from Stamford Montana where they had been residing. They formerly resided here.
