London January 9 The Spanish Ambassador Senor Don Merry del Val denied that American or British members of the Spanish Foreign Legion were marched into combat with hands tied behind them. He said such measures were field punishment used only when barracks confinement was impractical and no one came under fire in that condition. He also rebutted charges of bad faith by Americans and British who quit the Legion in October and November.
