Three Fires Keep Fire Department Busy Today
A roof fire at Cliff Conley’s home 503 Southeast Poplar Street caused $25 damage after being extinguished with chemicals. Sparks from a chimney were the likely origin. Earlier two alarms sounded between 6 and 7 am. A separate blaze at Ed L. Terry’s home 1002 North Elm Street caused $5 damage, and a flue fire at Ora Jones’s home 311 North Pine Street caused no damage.

Council Bluffs Jan 8 Reverend W Nielsen son of Mr and Mrs Nels P Nielsen of this city was taken to Jennie Edmundson hospital after two weeks with sleeping sickness. He had served as pastor at Kennard Nebraska after Blair and preached in Minnesota. A native of Council Bluffs he is reported to have little hope of recovery by doctors.
