Aged Woman Dies Of Shock In Muscatine Fire
Eliza Gibson Kemptner aged 82, a Muscatine county pioneer, died after her clothing caught fire while kindling a fire with kerosene. Her niece Mrs Mark Conway rushed to help, wrapped her in a blanket to smother the flames, but Mrs Kemptner died of shock.

House Wrecked By Tank Blast in Walnut Iowa
An explosion from a hot water tank in the basement of Mr and Mrs Henry Buttenschon caused their Walnut Iowa home to lift off its foundation. The basement was wrecked and porch pillars blown out while another porch glass shattered. Occupants were not injured.

Three missing after blaze in tenement on Madison Avenue
A fire on the top floor of a tenement house in upper Madison Avenue left three women missing and a fifth day old baby burned about the face while one woman was severely burned. Fire crews battled the blaze as investigators assessed the scene.
