Klan Tax ruling Upholds Tax on Greenfield HQ
In Greenfield Iowa Judge E W Dingwell ordered the Ku Klux Klan of Adair county to pay taxes on its local headquarters. The ruling rejected the Klan's claim that it is a charitable benevolent or fraternal group and thus tax exempt. State Klan HQ calls it a test affecting other Iowa klan groups.

Fred L. Dickey of W. S. Dickey Clay Manufacturing Co. was appointed by Federal Judge Albert L. Reeves as receiver of the United Clay Products Corp which had been placed in involuntary bankruptcy last week. Los Angeles January 5 The county grand jury indicted William Edward Hickman, the confessed kidnapper and Marian Parker slayer, for a second murder in the fatal holdup at Rosehill drugstore on Christmas Eve 1926. Hickman testified and drew a scene map while his 16 year old accomplice Welby Hunt remained silent. California law may hold both youths equally responsible for Thoms’s death despite who fired the fatal shot.

Allison Hatch Found Dead in Family Home
Allison C. Hatch, 8th grade president, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Hatch, 1403 Higbee street, was found dead in his room Wednesday evening. Coroner Dr. A. S. Beatty reports suicide by hanging. Born November 22, 1913, at Red Oak, he attended the junior high school and is survived by his parents and a younger brother and sister. Funeral services are set for Friday at 10 in the McGregor Brothers chapel with Rev. R. H. Robinson officiating. burial will be at Hamburg.
